Educators and school leaders have come to recognize that integrating academic and social development is the foundation of teaching and learning. Teachers recognize that students need to be actively engaged in the learning, take responsibility for their thinking and behavior, and work cooperatively with other students.
During the webinar, Peter Brunn with the Center for the Collaborative Classroom (CCC) examines how academic and social development are interdependent and mutually supportive to student development. The webinar unpacks strategies teachers can use to support both the academic and social development of students. Brunn uses practical, real-world examples to share the core principles of a collaborative classroom and a pedagogy, developed at CCC, and used in over 80,000 classrooms across the United States.
This webinar was recorded in partnership with Literacy Organizational Capacity Initiative (LOCI). LOCI works with schools and districts to build their internal capacity for growth in literacy teaching and learning. LOCI’s work focuses on developing research-tested literacy strategies and the organizational capacity assets needed to sustain them.
