Providing Topic-Based Consulting
CEC understands that a “one size fits all” packaged approach does not meet the unique needs of each district and school. Therefore, we select from a broad menu of research-based practices to customize a process that targets the specific needs of districts and schools. We provide support through our cadre of expert consultants and partners, who establish relationships, address complex content needs, and build capacity for long-term improvement.
Our Services:
Curriculum/Instruction/Assessment Training and Support for Specific Content Areas
CEC offers content-specific training on deconstructing, or unpacking, standards in all content areas. Professional learning is provided to identify the learning trajectory students need to demonstrate in order to achieve an overall standard. We guide you in developing and using a process to gather district-wide feedback on the learning trajectory. Responses are used to identify needs, monitor growth and to provide follow-up coaching and support.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
CEC provides professional learning to support Social Emotional Learning in the school. We work with schools and districts where they are in the process and introduce or reinforce the five SEL competency areas. Engaging and collaborative practices are modeled as sustainable strategies that embed SEL competencies in the school culture, classroom and curriculum are discussed and identified.
In addition to the services that CEC provides individual schools or districts, we also offer an opportunity to be a member of a Social Emotional Learning Network through our partnership with CASEL (the Collaborative for Academic and Social Emotional Learning). Together, we focus on supporting school and district teams in the development of a comprehensive, integrated approach to strengthen SEL competencies and advance academic equity so all students feel supported. The Network supports:
- Creating a shared plan that builds awareness, commitment and ownership
- Strengthening Adult SEL competencies and capacities, and promoting SEL for students
- Practicing continuous improvement
- Providing full access to resources and expertise from CEC and CASEL
- Collaborating with practitioners and other schools in implementing and sustaining SEL in schools, classrooms and through remote learning
- Learning through virtual, face-to-face and/or blended learning opportunities
- Participating in network meetings throughout the school year to build awareness, commitment and ownership
- Providing schools and districts with deep SEL implementation tools and guidance
Schools who participate in the network have seen academic as well as social/emotional benefits.

Support for Leaders
One of the most effective ways that a school system can help an educational leader be successful is by providing the support of an external coach. CEC offers customized executive coaching for experienced leaders and induction coaching for leaders new to their role. CEC adapts both approaches so that the support is focused on the coachee’s goals within a framework of inquiry and reflection in order to build capacity.
Executive Coaching
CEC’s executive coaching focuses on supporting leaders with the issues and challenges that are most relevant to their current professional reality. The process empowers educational leaders to achieve results by aligning their purpose, choices, and actions. All coaching efforts are based on clearly defined goals and timetables that are determined jointly by the executive leader and coach. Experienced educational leaders are matched with coaches based upon experience and background.
Induction Coaching
CEC’s induction coaching assists the administrator with understanding the dynamics of a new role and the importance of acting with purpose within that new role. CEC’s induction coaching is built on the knowledge that all new administrators need support to help them acclimate to their role, assess the landscape, build relationships, and identify major goals and strategies. The induction coaching approach CEC uses has proven to be impactful as educational leaders who are supported by a CEC coach report feeling successful in navigating the complexities of their new role.
CEC has various customizable structures for both executive and induction coaching to support the unique needs of district and school administrators that include four delivery models:
- Individual Coaching
- Combined Individual and Group Coaching within the Same District
